Patterson, Gerald Ray
Gerald Ray Patterson of Tupelo, 53, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
A memorial service was held Thursday, June 8, at 2 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in Marks, with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks had charge.
Born October 22, 1952, in Lambert, he served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by two sons, Gerry Patterson of Waco, TX and Chris Patterson of Nacogdoches, TX; three brothers, Roy Patterson of Tupelo, Gary Patterson of Courtland, and Paul Wayne Patterson of Huntsville, TX; three sisters, Joe Steed and Linda Cobb, both of Lambert and Shirley Applewhite of Moorehead; and three grandchildren.

Beatrice C. Pickett, 81, homemaker, died Friday, November 17, 1995, of heart failure at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Services were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 19, at First Baptist Church in Marks, where she was a member, with burial in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks had charge.
Mrs. Pickett had worked in the church nursery department of First Baptist for many years.
The widow of George R. Pickett, she is survived by a daughter, Annis Confer of Ben Lomond, CA; a son, James R. Pickett of Hernando; a stepdaughter, Jenny Johnson of Carrollton; and a stepson, George Dudley Pickett of Madison, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

John Dock Pollan, Jr. of Banner, 71, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi at Oxford. He was born September 26, 1928, in Quitman County to Mollie and John Pollan, Sr. He was a highway road construction worker and later owner of the Caramel Corn Retail Center in Greenville. He was a Baptist, a Shriner, a Mason, a past Master Mason, and a member of Banner Lodge No. 129.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with the Rev. Jimmy Sockwell officiating. Burial was at Drivers Flat Cemetery with graveside Masonic rites.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Huckaby Pollan of Banner; two daughters, Judy Daniels of Hernando and Deborah Kaye Brown of Nettleton; two stepdaughters, Charlie Ann Goodwin of Ripley, TN and Carolyn Hammond of Stockton, CA; his mother, Mollie Bell Pollan of Walls; seven sisters, Velma Garner of Charleston, Joyce Jones, Katherine Smith, Phyllis Brown, and Shirley Holland, all of Walls, Betty Hall of Cummins, GA and Pam Walker of Rena Lara; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Pollan; a stepson, Bill English and a stepdaughter, Jo Powser.

Prince, Ruth Mayo
Ruth Mayo Prince, 62, of Sardis, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at Senatobia Community Hospital from respiratory failure resulting from injuries received in an automobile accident in January, 1999, which left her a quadriplegic.
Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis with the Rev. Charles Lipe of Oxford officiating. Cremation followed.
Born April 27, 1937, in Sledge to Mrs. Cora Mae Fair Mayo and the late Mr. Guy Mayo, Mrs. Prince was a member of Union Baptist Church near Sardis and of the Pink Ladies at the Branson, Missouri Hospital.
The widow of Gordon Prince, she is survived by a daughter, Debbie Bateman of Decatur, AL; two sons, Alvin Duncan, Jr. of Sardis and Mark Prince of Hattiesburg; her mother, Cora Mae Mayo of Sledge; four sisters, Sadie O’Neal of Tunica, Shirley Sewell of Senatobia, Edna Holliday of Eudora, and Sandra Tyler of Sledge; three brothers, Bobby Lee Mayo of Moon Lake, Sonny Mayo of Sledge, and Terry Lee Mayo of Southaven; and three grandchildren,
Pall bearers were Steve O’Neal, Michael Mayo, Brian Mayo, Randy Mayo, Jay Huffstickler, and Chris Holliday. Alternate or honorary pall bearers were Bill Sowell and Harry Neece.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials be sent to Circle of Friends, the Christopher Reeve Foundation for Spinal Cord Research, P. O. Box 7233, Prospect, CT 66712.
